Happy w/ Sole E95
Delivery by Amazon was fast and efficient. The delivery guys called 40 min before the delivery window started and arrived 20 minutes early! Very efficient. The box was slightly damaged on each side, but the Sole E95 is packed very well and there was no damage.It took me about an hour to unpack everything and get the parts and pieces upstairs in my house where I wanted it installed. I used a dolly and strapped the main flywheel/unit to it to haul it upstairs. It’s heavy, but I was able to get it up my 15 curving stairs.Assembly (3 main steps) took almost 3 hours (by myself). Then I checked the operation and everything was fine (quiet, smooth, no clicking…I did get all the bolts very tight). The pictures are small but if you follow the text and hardware item #s assembly is straight-forward and easier than most things I’ve had to put together from stores. I did use my one drill-driver to help with assembly but just using the tools it came with would have been no problem. The final step 4 is just putting on the gazillion cosmetic plastic pieces, which was actually the most difficult for me. It took me an hour to do, mostly because there are so many of the ‘sheet metal’ screws that have very recessed holes and it is tricky to get the screw to enter the hole without getting caught on the edge at the bottom of the hole. I ended up using tape to hold the screw to the driver and eyeballing with a flashlight held in my mouth to get each one installed. The ‘machine screws’ install very simply and easily. After ~4+ hours of unboxing, dragging upstairs, assembling on hands and knees, I was too sore and tired to bother with a workout and called it ‘good’ for the day ;)It is sitting on carpet with a treadmill mat to provide some protection for the carpet. I may add a 1/4″ sheet of plywood or something under the mat for stability. On a hard floor in the showroom where I tested this machine it was extremely stable. On my carpet, it does move side-to-side a little bit when using so that is why I’m considering putting plywood (or something) under it. It’s not bad, and not really noticeable when you are using it, but when I watched my wife it was moving more than I thought.Operation is great, my wife loves it. The incline and resistance levels work very well, it is very smooth and quiet. I have not used the speakers/fan as we have a full size sound system and ceiling fans in the room.I did notice in the User1/2 programs that once you start the defined workout you cannot manually change the levels (resistance, incline), you are stuck with what you selected. If you want to change settings on the fly you have use the ‘manual’ or other ‘cardio’ or ‘hill’ pre-defined workouts.Over-all we are very happy with the Sole E95. It really is near-commercial quality for a decent price.

Performance, Quality, and Defective Issues with 2014 E95 since purchase
I’ve owned 3 elliptical trainers since 2001. A Life Fitness X3 for 10 years and a Vision Fitness S7200 for 2 years. I had to sell the Vision Fitness because of a job relocation and was just too large to move. I decided to try and save a few bucks and order this 2014 Sole E95 model. I’ve had nothing but problems with it since it was delivered 3 weeks ago. Right pedal rail is jumping off track and can’t be aligned properly. There was loose washers inside the flywheel area that I fished out with a magnet upon delivery that I suspect is causing this. The feet adjustments are not 0 -10 degrees. More like 3-10 degrees. So your feet will fall asleep quickly because they are pointing downward. The unit is heavy and feels solid but that’s is about where the quality ends. Heavier flywheels does not mean better. The bolts and components are cheap. I wish they would have not put any speakers on this machine and put that money into the parts. The speakers are really bad. I’m a heavy user (10 hours per week) so in just 3 weeks I’m already seeing the machine breaking down. I’ve called Sole 4 times for different issues. Need a tech to come out but can’t get here before my Amazon return window expires. Anyway, enough time spent on this as it’s being picked up next week and going back to Amazon. Looks great on paper but I need a machine that will last.Just bought the cheap Schwinn A40 Elliptical Machine (for my second home) and Schwinn is so much better!

downhill motion
Definitely try it before you buy. I tried several ellipticals in stores. I couldn’t find this one but bought it on the strength of reviews. I’ve had it for a little over a month and I have to say, I regret buying it. The machine is very well made and sturdy. The motion is extremely smooth. My problem with it is, I feel like I’m going downhill and would prefer a flatter elliptical where I could “just walk”. I have put boards under the front and center to change the profile and while it helped, I still feel like I’m going downhill and it’s just not a comfortable easy stride. The incline does not help because the incline is actually a decline – it raises the back so you are going even more downhill. Another peeve is the adjustable pedals. Out of the box, they were frozen and could not be adjusted at all. The manual refers to different pedals with a three-position adjustment, so these must be new. After loosening and lubricating, I can just barely turn the pedals enough to adjust them if I wrap a towel around the knob and use a great deal of force. However adjusting the pedals only adds to the feeling that you are walking down hill. It’s a well made machine and if you like the motion I’m sure you will be very happy with it but my recommendation is to try it before you buy.

Defective Product. Heart monitor doesn’t work properly. And it broke in 2 weeks. As per technician, the the gear level was cut in the resistance motor. The delivery was not expected on time. After frequent follow up’s it happened. Even the installation happened after 7-8 follow ups. It’s better buying in shop rather than online.The hear rate monitor still doesn’t work. The service guy doesn’t have a clue how to fix it .
