Good for a family of 3
We really wanted to love this portable grill, but it fell just short of being perfect for our needs. It does several things really well, but there are definitely some areas where it struggles. The most glaring issue for us was the sizeâmore limiting than we initially expected. One gripe we had was the vendor’s picturesâtheyâre a bit misleading. Sure, you could probably fit a handful of standard sized patties or chicken breasts, but donât expect to cook an entire Oktoberfest spread like the images suggest. The grill comes with a griddle, a standard grate, and two charcoal trays, which does give some flexibility for different items to cook. Another big perk is the flexibility of where you can use it. Since it isn’t just charcoal, you could easily do a garage set up during the cold months.

Smart and cleverly designed travel grill – easy to clean and transport
We did a lot of outdoor cooking this year: half of it was with an outdoor pizza oven and the other half was with this Piquebar charcoal grill. The grill took everything we threw at it generally produced one great meal after another of well-cooked and smoked steaks, burgers, hot dogs, kebabs, etc.The main reason it got as much use as it did is because it’s probably the easiest to maintain and store compact grill we’ve ever had. Our previous outdoor grill was one of those poorly made, very basic round and low to the ground Weber grills which, once you’ve used it once it feels like it’ll never be clean again because it’s design makes it terrible to clean and a pain to transport.Seriously, put one of those Webers in your car after having used it once and not only will it roll like crazy with every turn, but any charcoal you’ve ever used in it that you couldn’t scrub or hose away will end up in the back of your car because I don’t think Weber ever conceived of a time when it would leave the spot it was built.By contrast, when you’re done with a dinner with this, you can give it time to cool, empty out the coals, into a pit and put them out completely, and then spray this this out and put its cooking elements and trays into the dishwasher. The maintenance is fantastically easy. And for travel it folds up nicely and clasps shut for easy stable transport. This thing encouraged us to take it camping with us thanks to its design, and so we did.

All bent out of shape.
I love the idea of this small bbq, however it was so beat up not sure if it will last long due to damage.

Too low of a coal tray.
Ashy food and not enough coal to heat properly so ashy undercooked food.

Easy to use
This portable grill is perfect for camping. It is easy to carry around and is pretty light. It is small but still has plenty of space inside. The prices come out and are easy to wash. It is pretty sturdy, not the highest quality but really decent.

Adorable but basic
I will preface this by saying I am not a grill aficionado. I absolutely got this because I thought it was adorable and wasn’t up for the task of minute manipulation of a fancy grill. So, cute in size, eminently portable, no fuss no frills straight up grill that flips open and doubles the grilling space. When closed, it’s got a little stack for sort of venting and reminds one of a vintage Coleman metal lunch box with a chimney.I grilled sausages on the grill plate, not the grate, and opted to just use a single side and close the lid to keep bugs out. We used lump charcoal, not briquettes, and honestly probably didn’t get them lit well enough to get things going faster. Thankfully, we weren’t waiting on these for breakfast, because we would have had brunch by the time we were done. Again, that’s on us not the grill, but just note that if you don’t have a strong grilling experience, or strong non-propane grill history, this may take a moment to adjust and get right. This may take some finessing on your part and/or appreciation of the process as much as getting to the food.Only complaint was there was no damper when the grill was closed. The chimney is more for looks than control. In addition, though easy to put together, it can feel a little wobbly even on flat surface on level ground. My latch will close but the lid shifts a bit so needs 2 hands to align and latch closed. Very minor. However, where this completely rocks the world is how easy it is to clean. The 2 grill faces (plate and grate) are completely removable, as is the smaller charcoal holding plate(s). So easy to clean and then transport. For grilling pros, they probably know how to make this little grill sing and push it to its limits. I find it workable for non-pros like me and the cute and portable factor make it very attractive. I might not know how to make a 5 course meal on it yet but it gets you there and I can clean it easily at the end of the day.
