Best Low End of Penn Spinners!
I have to start by saying that this is the entry level for PENN Spinning Reels and I sincerely believe itâs the âThe Best Buy For The Moneyâ compared with other models and other name brand reels.This Wrath 2500-8000 is in my opinion âThe Best Buyâ for my money, bar none. A couple months ago I ordered the Wrath 2500, 4000, 8000 because the price. On the day I ordered, the prices were $29.99 for all sizes. Prices and stock fluctuate on all Reels due to the time of year or season. I also liked the specs that I downloaded from PENN.com and as importantly I have always loved the ease of ordering parts directly from PENN.I wasnât disappointed from the first day. All three sizes are quiet and smooth. I use them for for saltwater bait and jerk casting in north Georgia to surf fishing down on the Gulf coast. I have caught just about everything possible from bluegill bream to catfish and carp. I have used the 2500 with a 4 lbs line for fly fishing with trout. The 8000 with 30 lbs test monofilament line, does well for big Cats in West Point Lake to Rays and Skates down on the Gulf of Mexico (it does well no matter what size and I really appreciate the weight and size of the 8000).These newly designed Penn WRATH spinners look nice with any color of line and rod but the ocean blue line really makes it look like a high dollar reel. Much more importantly, each size performs as well as any spinning reel Iâve owned for the price range. Saltwater but the is now my favorite. After looking at the diagrams of several reels in and above this price range of $30-$70, I concluded that Pennâs re-engineering has made this reel in the best class for both saltwater and freshwater spinners. (Lightweight saltwater for each size other than sizes 6000-8000).I tried to order a couple of 5000 or 6000 and another 8000 for weeks now but itâs been sold out, but Amazon has assured me that more is coming back in stock soon.I highly recommend the WRATH Spinner for a well designed, well built freshwater or saltwater reel. (By The Way – be sure to rinse off with tap water or hose after fishing in saltwater or brackish water.)

Good reel for the price
This is my go to reel for light tackle. Because it isnât sealed you have to baby it a little. Keep it clean and greased. But a great reel for the price.

My go-to real Kayak fishing
I have 3 of these, 2-4000âs and 1-5000. I like them both. I use them to catch Redfish, snook, sharks. Great reels.However, they donât get 5 stars because they only last me about a year before they rust out and donât work anymore. For the cost though, when theyâre on sale, thatâs better value than any others Iâve used in 50 years.Iâve landed some large Blacktip sharks on both the 4000 and 5000. Wire leaders and keep the drag loose. Havenât lost one because of the reel.Iâll keep buying these every year as long as they keep the costs down.

This reel has a very smooth feel
It feels great, reels very smooth. What I don’t like it that the bail turns opposite of what my other reels turn. So instead of reeling the line to my finger waiting for the line to hook on to it, ooen the bail and cast, I now have to chase the line as it revolves around the spool, the ope the bail away from my left side. So it is not comfortable to me. It would be great if I realed with my right hand. It will be okay for the type of fishing I will ne doing with it. It is something I never even thought to look for. I hope this makes sense.

Penn wrath and wrath ii
Sturdy fishing reel and good value. Hold up well to heavy use and has a very smooth drag system for those bigger fish. The wrath 6000 is great for inshore or surf fishing and the 8000 is great for surf fishing and those bigger species. The 8000 held about 400 yards of 60lb braid. The 6000 penn wrath held about 300 yards of 50lb braid. Great reels and great line capacity

Pas trop chère pour un moulinet pour lâeau salée. La grosseur est parfaite pour mettre du braid 40-50 lbs test. Mécanisme à lâaire dâêtre robuste. Je lâai utilisé à quelques reprise et je lâadore mais il est un peu pesant. Dans le paquet, il y a le moulinet, une bobine et un livret dâinstruction.

Just using it after 4 months of purchase, found itâs a garbage, really not smooth even feel stuck. You would think a big fish but a small fish finally. I bought another two of PENN reels in the same month, all same feeling. Use them too late and have no chance to return. Never buy PENN again.
